Hidden Kingdoms: The World of Microbes
Tuesday, September 9th, 2008What is a microorganism? There are several different terms used to describe these organisms: microbe, germ, protist, protozoa, algae, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. A “microorganism” or “microbe” is any organism that is too small to see with a naked eye. This program introduces students to “Microspace” and allows them to begin to observe and classify its inhabitants. Student’s will learn that microorganisms are omnipresent, existing literally everywhere and have an enormous impact upon the environment and humanity. Through hands on exploration with microscopes and the New York Hall of Science’s Hidden Kingdoms microbe exhibit students can explore the world inside the microscope.
